LSU, monument for football programs

When you see LSU near the top of the list of best recruiting classes don't be surprised. This video may help point out why so many people dream of playing at LSU. Here's the facilities they have to work with.

Football Season approaching

With football season, both NFL and College, approaching there is nothing better to get your blood pumping than this speech in Any Given Sunday. I for one will be watching this about 47 times before the VT vs. Bama game Saturday. Enjoy

NFL Shop releases Jersey Sales list

NFLShop.com has released reports on their best jersey sales for the period of April 1 through August 28. For the second year in a row, Brett Favre is on top at #1. This time though, it is more of a shock due to the fact that Favre's jersey has only been on sale for a couple weeks.

Notables on the list:
1. Brett Favre - Vikings
2. Jay Cutler - Bears
4. Mike Vick - Eagles
7. Mark Sanchez - Jets
11. T.O. - Bills
20. Michael Crabtree - 49ers

That last one really surprises me, especially considering he's not really a part of the team yet. You know, because $20 million guaranteed just isn't enough money. His holdout is hurting too. Last week, Crabtree was 8th in sales.

Boston College unveils "Beat Cancer" t-shirt

I am no Boston College fan, that's for sure. They have become a regular rival to the Hokies though, and I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention.

As many are already aware, Boston College's star linebacker, Mark Herzlich, was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment earlier this year. Recovery seems to be going well.

The shirt to the right depicts BC's mascot with similar face paint features known to Herzlich's style. Shirts are available for purchase here. BC will donate $5 from the sale of every Beat Cancer T-shirt to the American Cancer Society in support of Ewing's sarcoma research.

Boston College is planning on having people wear the shirts for their October 3 game against Florida State.

"Do over" rules in need of "do overs"

Wow. What a pun to start this off. Sorry.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL have ruled today that Jerry Jones can keep his impressive video boards at the level they are - for now. Goodell has clarified that any punts that hit off of the video board will result in a "do over" of the play. The clock will be reset to the original time and penalties are wiped out (excluding personal fouls). If replay officials don't see the ball hit the board, the replay assistant crew can initiate booth review at any time. Coaches may also challenge it as well.

One league source went on to call the decision "laughable" adding "it's bullshit." The source went on to add the result of a "do over" leaving the gunners tired and the punt returner fresh. Can you imagine the uproar of the "do over" resulting in a blocked kick after the first got off cleanly?

Jerry Jones should quit being such a baby and move them in the offseason. This is going to slow the game down and bug a lot of people.

Talk about a throne

Everyone knows that the poor economy has affected everyone. School's throughout the nation have cut budgets for all sports. With that in your mind listen to this story....

I've heard a lot of positive things about the Stanford program. Many people throughout the college football world think that Jim Harbaugh has the team running in the right direction. Even big donor, John Arrillaga donated between 50,000 and 70,000 to the football team. What did this money go to you may ask? A state of the art, personalized, number one all time, SHITTER. That's right folks. Apparently Mr. Harbaugh now has a bathroom that cost more money than many people make in a year. We'll see if this palace translates to more wins on the football field. For now, i say it's ridiculous.

Witty Packas fans find themselves in hot water

So Duane and Carlene Schultz are the average Wisconsin farmers. The Schultz' family is of course Packers fans and as of recently hate Brett Favre. Well they decided to paint one of their goats purple and gold and shave the number 4 in its side. Get it? Favre, he's a goat? Ha. Ha. Ha?

Anyways the family was later reported to animal control because the goat was found in the truck of their car. Now, what started as a hilarious joke may get the couple in big trouble. They will be charged criminally.

Jay Cutler's got his swim trunks and his "flippy floppies"

All-around douchebag and current Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler was recently reported as - wait a minute, this can't be right... - saying Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels will be a good coach? Maybe Brian Urlacher is right; Jay Cutler is a "pussy."

"He's going to be a good coach," Cutler said. "I think their offense is going to be fine. I think Kyle's going to be fine. [McDaniels] is an offensive mind."

He might be the only one that thinks so.

This is a complete turnaround from a mere five months ago when Cutler whined to the Broncos to trade him citing betrayal. He then went on to rate the fans of each respective team giving the Broncos faithful a 6 and the Bears a 9. Of course, he backtracked there too.

I think he's a little scared to travel back to Denver that's all.

Herzlich aiming for return in 2010

With all of the negativity swirling around sports today with steroids, drunk driving, dog fighting, and everything else that clutters ESPN its good to hear some good news for a change. Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer is hoping to return to the team for the 2010 season.

Herzlich will finish his radiation treatments this week and has 5 more chemotherapy appointments. With all of this going on he has returned to classes and has a very positive outlook on the future of his condition. (From ESPN.com) "Things are going really well," Herzlich said Wednesday. "The goal right now is to get rid of the tumor completely and to be healthy. That's the goal right now and they're encouraged that's what's going to happen."

The 6'4" 238 pound linebacker led the Eagles in tackles last season and hopes to continue his career into the NFL. It is really great to hear a story like this. During his treatments there was very little heard about his condition in the media but now things really appear to be heading in the right direction. Good for him and best of luck.

Not everyone that wears purple wants Favre

Mike Florio and PFT are reporting that a "faction" of players on the Vikings would rather see Tarvaris Jackson start in place of You-Know-Who.

These players, whom have yet to be identified, believe that Jackson is a better option at QB than Favre and his out-dated arm. Personally, I still think Favre gives them the better option because he'll open up more for Adrian Peterson.

Florio goes on to talk about the "what if" of a Viking struggle. Does "Chilly" have the cojones to bench Favre and go with Jackson? He better. His job is on the line.

UPDATE: Adam Schefter of ESPN.com is saying that there is also a group of Vikings players that want Sage Rosenfels to be the starter.

Vikings coach Brad "Chilly" Childress was asked about the possible uproar.

"I've seen the same reports you've seen," Childress said. "Those are opinions. It's hard to shoot holes in an opinion. It's just that -- an opinion. I certainly don't see it."

ESPN smarter than the Red Sox?

With Billy Wagner joined the Red Sox Thursday something tells me that he won't be too successful. Not only is he coming back from Tommy John, but ESPN helps to point out something in this graphic that could be a huge problem at Fenway.

Now we will just have to see if Pablebon can quit complaining about each other and get some outs so they don't choke away this season.

Tim Donaghy, back in the news!

You heard right, everyone's favorite gambling referee is back in the news. This time, for going back into jail for violation of probation. Donaghy had been released from prison in June to a halfway house. Apparently Tim missed work this week which was a violation of his probation and sent back into prison. His attorney, of course, has a great excuse for the absence. John Lauro told ESPN.com "He has been working and obeying all the rules, but he has a very, very bad knee problem that needs surgery. He was beaten up in jail by a guy that claimed he was angry at Tim for cooperating. The guy beat him up pretty bad with a pipe, busted up his knee. He needs surgery."

Imagine that, someone hated this weasel enough to kick his ass in jail. Amazing. We'll see where this one goes but for now good ole Timmy boy is back in the slammer.

Brett Favre is back, where's John Madden?

Now that Favre has unretired for the 47th time this decade, the question remains: when will John Madden do the same? Stay tuned...

Classy fans

Eric Bruntlett wasn't the only one at Citi field Sunday really sticking it to the Mets. How bout this classy fan pouring a beer on a Mets fan then getting two swings on him. Watch the other Phillies fan in the background holding back the police officer who seemed so excited to break the fight up. What a bunch of punks.

Fantasy Football is coming up, where do you turn to for advice?

My recommendation? Drew Rosenhaus. Next question.

I just looked at Rose's tweet tweet account and realized that everyone he represents is bound for either a breakout year or will be an all-pro.

I can already see my team now with Frank Gore leading the way held on by my huge sleeper pickups in Jabar Gaffney and Fred Davis.

Check out his twitter here for more information on where to make your next draft pick.

Never trust the mascot

After the 400m hurdles Melaine Walker of Jamaica got a piggy back ride from the mascot. Should have just said no. The best part may be the fact that the announcer is clueless of what is going on.

Rob the jewelry store tell them make me a GRILL

Rapper Paul Wall is getting everyone in on the "grill game". Even swimmer Ryan Lochte.

ESPN finds Kobe Bryant somehow relevant during LLWS

While showing the replay of a strikeout in a Little League World Series game Sunday a picture of Kobe Bryant magically showed up in the middle of the screen. Great job ESPN.

We're Back

Sorry for the break from action over the last few months. My summer just got too busy, but now that I'm back at school the writing will come back. Thanks.
