Mike Florio of PFT got a hot tip (read: press release) that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.

If you recall, Jagodzinski left the head coaching position at Boston College this past offseason to pursue a career in the NFL. He was later hired by the Tampa Bay Buccos to run their offense. Yet, just like Chan Gailey last week, a team has decided that the offensive coordinator they have is the wrong one - just days before the start of the season.

Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson has been promoted to fill Jagodzinski's shoes. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there may have been friction between Olson and Jagodzinski as per the decision to name Leftwich the starter. For once (or maybe not), it seems the QB coach is more important than the guy calling the offensive plays.

UPDATE: The Buccaneers have reported that this, in no way, stemmed from any disagreements about the starting Quarterback, but rather issues involving Jagodzinski's coaching philosophies.

"We needed more direction," Bucs coach Raheem Morris said in an early-afternoon news conference. "We needed more precision. [We weren't] getting it at the time, so you make the change."

The Bucs offered him the position of QB Coach - basically entailing a switch of positions for Olson and Jagodzinski. He declined however.
